The Main Street Project (MSP) hostel is a 26-bed facility providing shelter and a supervised living environment for men and women in Winnipeg's inner city who are temporarily homeless and/or unable to function in the community. The hostel is designed to meet clients' basic physical needs; provide a 'dry' and supportive context in which they can stabilize their situations, and assist them in obtaining more permanent accommodation in the community or, alternatively, entrance to a treatment program. Since June 1986, the Institute of Urban Studies has been conducting an evaluation of the hostel under contract with the United Way of Winnipeg and under the direction of a joint steering committee including representatives of MSP, the United Way and the City of Winnipeg. Four interrelated reports comprise the written outcome of the evaluation: - Interim Report, August 12, 1986 - Follow-Up to Interim Report, September 22, 1986 - Statistical Review of Client Files, November 5, 1986 - Analyses and Recommendations, November 10, 1986.en_US
