The Institute of Urban Studies has been working in several areas of the City of Winnipeg for 2 years discussing local problems with residents and doing research on possible solutions to these problems. Through working with one group, they were able to move a small apartment building, slated for demolition, onto a vacant lot in their neighbourhood and rehabilitate it. Another group is interested in designing and building their own houses. Some local residents of this area, known as Roosevelt Park, have also expressed interest in forming a local repair company and preliminary discussions have taken place. The contents of this proposal are based on actual work, discussion and experience in these areas.en_US
